He took me to see Paranormal Activity Two, because he'd seen that I had a lot of horror books when he helped me pick them up in the library and assumed I would like it, which I did.
It was a great movie that left me scared out of my flats. I just adored that feeling. I also thought it was adorable when Nate would jump then try to cover it with a laugh when something surprised-scared him suddenly.
People flooded out of the theatre and by then it was about 7:45pm. We casually chatted about the movie while strolling  back to Nate's large old navy blue truck which he apologized for constantly because it 'was more of a pumpkin than a white, horse-drawn carriage.' But I reassured him that it was just fine and suited my taste well.
I loved the mannish trucks that guys drove because they made me feel safe.
When we reached the truck I went over to my side and Nate opened the door for me very nicely. Then he jogged around the broad hull of the blue Ford with a contented look on his features.
When he had climbed in on his side and looked as though he was about to start the car, he stopped and turned to me. "Oh, uh, the night is still young. Is there anywhere else you'd like to go to M'lady?" I love the gentlemanly twang he used comfortably. Then with a joking look in his eyes he added, "We could go visit the Queen of Dairy."
"Sounds great!" I chuckled.
"Anything for you." He said with a softened look, and then he turned back towards the wheel and switched on the steady engine and pulled safely out of the parking lot and in the direction of the Dairy Queen.

He bought a chocolate dipped cone for himself and treated me to a strawberry sundae. Then he lead me out to the parking lot which was getting darker, with the first stars beginning to peak out of the twilight. And, to my surprise, he jumped onto the hood of the car and held a hand out to me so that he could pull me on too.
I'm usually not into doing stuff like that, but the happy look on his face made me want to join him, and take part in the happiness.
When we'd both settled onto the hood we had to eat quickly because it was a humid summer evening and the ice cream was melting fast. So I quickly ate all of the sugary strawberries and then mixed the rest of the delicious red-pink juices with the white of the ice cream, to make a soft and cool pink mixture.
Nate had leaned up against the front car window and carefully watched as I preformed my usual routine onto the strawberry mix. Of coarse I was aware of this, but I didn't let it show, because human teenage girls don't have as amazingly accurate peripheral vision as vampyres.
"That's really interesting." He said as he broke through the hard chocolate outer crust of his cone.
I turned. "What is?"
"I've never seen anyone eat a sundae like that." He gazed up at the stars and leaned his head back onto the window. "You really are unique."
By now I had finished. "Be right back." I gracefully hopped off the hood of the car and began to walk towards the first trash can I saw. Unique? I thought. How could he decide that from just seeing me eat frozen cream? Or has he been watching me like that the whole time. I realized that I had been really relaxed for most of the date. Oh god, does he think I'm some sort of weirdo?
By then I had made it back to the truck I was surprised to see that Nate was waiting by my open door. "Ready?"
~
Crap! Crap! Crap! Why did I say that to her? That was such an idiot way to try to complement her! And I totally screwed up and got all embarrassed when I tried to invite her to the movie. She must think that I'm awkward. Well it's already 8:30; I better take her back to Starbucks so that she can be getting home. I don't want to make it last so long that she'll think of me as 'that guy that dragged me all over town at all hours of the night'. I agilely jumped off the hood and decided to wait till she got back at her door.
Just then she appeared around the front of the car and stopped, a little surprised to see me at her door. "Ready?" I asked.
~
Nate drove me back to my awaiting car in the Starbucks. The whole way there my palms were sweating like crazy.
It was weird because I had never been so nervous around anybody before.
So when we finally pulled into the parking space right next to my car, I could bet money that I was sitting in a puddle of nervous sweat. (Yeah, he totally pulled up so all I had to do was hop out of his truck and then be right next to my car without having to barely lift a finger!)
So when he turned to me I decided to use a bad cliché and say, "I had a really nice time out with you tonight."
"I'm glad to hear it," he said with a sheepish glance at my eyes.
"We should do this again some time, really." I uttered in a barely audible tone.
"Definitely." He replied, then after a short pause of silence, he jumped out of his door and sprinted to my door and opened it for me again. Ha ha, so cute. I could get used to that adorable gentleman attitude. I thought.
I lightly jumped down the long distance from the step to the ground, and then looked back up at him.
Nate was staring at me intently. "You are remarkable girl, Scarlet. I like you a lot." He confided with a new-found confidence which took my breath away.
"I like you a lot too." I said quietly. Then I made a split-second decision, I reached my arms up and tightly grasped his neck and gently laid my head on his chest. He went stiff for a second then he softly wrapped his arms around my waist and squeezed me lightly.
I really liked how tall he was because his stature made me feel small and delicate.
Then (sadly) I let go and smiled at him, "You're really a great guy Nate. Call me when you feel like hanging out again."
And I turned and unlocked my car door and quietly drove away without another look at the boy I knew I had fallen in love with.
